Do I need Xbox Live to access the music store on Karaoke Revolution? - karaoke revolution j pop collection

I just Karaoke Revolution for Xbox 360 for Christmas. I want to really see what new songs are not in the music store, because I know that many of the original in the game. I go to the main menu of the game and the choice of music store appears gray and not selectable. Can someone tell me how do I access it, or if you need me to Xbox Live? Thanks in advance!
